The Rescue

Jack was stalking tracks but not pig tracks, Ralphs tracks. He leaned over and smelled it and followed them to the beach. He saw Ralph kneeling, he called over all his hunters except Bill and Samneric and said, “see that’s Ralph and I’ll show you guys how to kill”. So he began to run towards Ralph and began to yell. He threw his spear aiming for Ralphs heart but missed, it went over him and struck something else, something he had not seen before. It appeared to be a man and he watched him fall down and die. All at once he heard the fire of a bullet, then he was in extreme pain. He looked down to see a gaping hole in his flesh near his stomach. Then he died, killed from a bullet that had come from a guard that was rescuing them.

Ralph stopped sobbing when he heard a gasp and squeal. He turned around to see the naval officer dead, a spear in his neck. Then he heard a shot from one of the Naval officer’s guards he saw where they shot, Ralph ran over there to see that Jack was also dead of a bullet wound. Ralph ran back to the guards and saw that they were about to speak. The guard said “ Hey you aught to go and get the others if there are any”. Ralph lumbered away obediently only to find that everyone was dead except Samneric and Bill. “hey you guys over here. You guys hey!” they ran to him. “ You guys we’ve been rescued a Naval Officer is here and they are here because of the smoke” said Ralph. “must kill!” yelled Bill and as soon as he said that Ralph new what was going on. They still thought they had to kill me Ralph thought. They ran at him screaming the Ralph uttered two words that stopped them immediately, “Jack’s dead”. They stopped and Samneric were relieved because they never wanted to join his tribe, but Bill took it really hard, he had looked up to Jack as a hunter and a leader. Ralph yelled again “We’ve been rescued! The ship saw the smoke.

Later that day when they were in the ship Ralph was staring at the bed as if it was the first time he had ever seen one. He laid down on it and he felt as if he was on a cloud and fell asleep within seconds. When he woke up he went to the lunch area to find Samneric stuffing their faces with food. Ralph walked over and the twins engulfing their meals looked up and said, “ahhhh, real food I’m so glad we got rescued or else we would have gone insane”. Ralph, thinking about what they said and replied “We already were crazy”. Then Ralph sat down and ate. He had bread with his meal and for the first time he knew everything was going to be alright and that they were going home. After his meal he went to Bill and saw how he was doing. Bill had become so accustom to the wild that he forgot what a bed was and looked at it as if it was something alien. Bill finally acknowledged that Ralph was there and he said “ Hey Ralph am I dreaming?” Ralph replied with a grin “ No you are not we are actually going home”. “But that island was home to me ,well that’s what Jack said”. Then suddenly he remembered that jack was dead and he started crying over his lost leader. Then Ralph said “ He was not a leader he was a savage”.
